How's your May treating you so far? We have been busy Fireflies since we last checked in. At the end of April, we successfully delivered nearly 300 jars of honey from Wehrloom Honey in Robbinsville, NC, to our local past clients. We love these visits as it gives us a chance to see our clients in person and show a little appreciation for choosing Firefly for their real estate needs. We also collected donations for Homeward Bound, and we are so grateful for everyone who participated!
On May 3, six team members ran the Chamber Challenge 5K, an annual tradition in Asheville where local businesses come together and run, walk, or both, through the gorgeous neighborhood of Montford - which is also team member Michaela's neighborhood! One of her neighbors was so kind to let our other team members set up a cheering station along the route - it was hilly, sweaty, and a lot of fun!
Speaking of Homeward Bound, on May 9, the Firefly Team along with some fine folks from the Kim Winters Team from Movement Mortgage were welcomed into Homeward Bound's AHOPE Day Center, the only day center for people experiencing homelessness in the region. AHOPE provides services including showers, coffee, mail services, and storage of personal belongings for an average 172 people a day. Above it all, AHOPE is also the first step on the journey back to permanent housing. We spent the afternoon giving the center a deep cleaning, and we'd like to thank Kate and all of the folks at Homeward Bound for everything they do to help end homelessness in our community.
Meanwhile, our Mother's Day Giveaway had more participation than ever this year - A huge thanks to Annika Brock of Brock Law Firm for helping us provide two $200 spa gift certificates to Shoji Spa & Retreat - and Congratulations to the winners!
It's hard to believe May is more than halfway over, and we're setting our sights on all things summer. Check your inbox for your invitation to our next friends and family event at the WNC Nature Center on June 2, and we anticipate the return of our fearless leader Katie Prendergast in June as well!
