Feb 2022 Newsletter | Team Member Spotlight: Erin Ryan
Erin Ryan is one of the newest members of the Firefly Realty team, having joined in the summer of 2021. Erin is a licensed agent, and he is the first person to fulfill the Showing Partner role on the team.
So what's a showing partner? As a showing partner, Erin ensures that all of Firefly's buyer clients are able to see houses when and where they want, outside of any limitations of their agent's schedule. If an agent has two clients who want to see homes at the same time of day in different parts of town, Erin can show the home to one of the clients so that no one misses out - something that is crucial in the competitive market buyers are experiencing right now in Asheville.
Erin also works closely with the operations team, helping the listing manager get our listings live, and he provides support for clients under contract if an agent is out of the office for any reason. In short - he supports just about every aspect of our business, and he does it well!
While Erin is new to real estate, he has worked with home buyers since 2014 during his previous career as a mortgage lender. He made the shift to getting his real estate license when he realized he wanted to have more direct connection with buyers and serve as their guide in the home buying process in a more impactful way.
Erin connected with Firefly's founder Katie Prendergast, who offered to mentor him during his pre-licensing course. During that time, he started helping out the team part-time and it became clear that it was a good fit all around.
"I really appreciate the collaborative atmosphere on the team. It's clear that everyone cares about each other and our clients, and each member of the team wants to work to help strengthen one another," Erin said. As for what lies ahead, "
I’m excited to watch the team continue to grow, both in terms of scale and skill, and I look forward to playing a key role on one of our region’s premier real estate teams," he said.
In Erin's work, he sees a lot of clients, and a lot of homes. His advice for home buyers is this: Hold firm to the must-have items on your wish list while being flexible on the others, and remember that even if your offer on the first house you fall in love with doesn't get accepted, there's still a home out there that's right for you!
He also hopes that our clients enjoy working with Firefly enough that they would be willing to recommend us to their friends and family, knowing that anyone they send our way will be in good hands. We all have that hope!
Prior to getting into the mortgage lending, Erin was a high school social studies teacher. He lives in Asheville with his wife Alex and their 3 rescue pets - a puggle named Blanche, a Boston terrier mix named Gus, and a black cat named Vera. Erin plays the ukulele and saxophone, and is learning the guitar. He enjoys cooking, gardening and landscaping, hiking, and showing friends and family his favorite places around Asheville. He's looking forward to traveling again soon - his destination wish list includes Belize and New Zealand.
