Local Spotlight: WNC Nature Center
Did you know that among the Firefly team of 9 people, we collectively have 14 kids? And we'll add 4 more with the new agents we're onboarding - that's a lot of little Fireflies! One of the local places beloved by our Firefly families - and by team members without kids - is the Western North Carolina Nature Center!
The Western North Carolina Nature Center connects people with the animals and plants of the Southern Appalachian Mountain region by inspiring appreciation, nurturing understanding, and advancing conservation of the region’s rich biodiversity.
Today, the Nature Center is one of the primary facilities in Western North Carolina offering school children and adults opportunities to learn about and develop an understanding of their responsibility for this area’s native wildlife and habitats. The WNC Nature Center is home to sixty species of wild and domestic animals and hundreds of species of plants, all representative of this unique bioregion, the Southern Appalachians.
The Nature Center features paved, mostly shaded paths through the animal habitats and includes a barnyard area, a reptile house, a playground, and several other interactive features. The center hosts special events throughout the year and even has summer day camps for kiddos. Volunteer opportunities are available for kids and adults as well. Whether you're visiting or relocating to Asheville, this is a must-do!
And if you're on the Firefly Friends & Family list, you may have already gotten an invitation to our client appreciation event on April 30 - check your email or reach out to us at (828) 771-2339 to RSVP!
